Please join Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits on Friday January 11th from 6:30-8pm for a Crush Hour featuring the wines from Washington and Oregon.

The most popular grape varietal out of these two prestigious wine growing regions has been Pinot Noir, but there is so much more.  This week we will be diving into some other options. Red Blends, Syrah and Sparkling wines are in the line up, come and try some interesting wines this week with us.

Five cheeses from the Bern’s Cave du Fromage will be paired with the wines, along with house made breads. The price is $25.00 per person. Reservations are requested and seats are limited.

    Featured wines

2013 Spring Valley Frederick Red Blend Walla Walla Valley Washington
Healthy dark red--although none of these wines are crystal-clear as they were not fined or filtered. Very dark scents of blackberry, cassis and black cherry suggest a rather muscular wine. Densely packed and tightly wound, with an impression of ripe acidity framing and enlivening the youthful flavors of cassis, blackberry, cocoa powder, mocha and spices. No sign of either greenness or heat here. The tannins spread out horizontally to saturate the palate on the firm, long back end.  92 point Vinous

2015 Col Solare Cabernet Columbia Valley Washington
This 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of black cherry, berry and dark chocolate that fuse with smooth notes of vanilla and spice. Rich and balanced on the palate, this wine finishes with long lingering flavors of cocoa, black fruits and anise.  92 points Wine Spectator

2015 Gramercy Cellars Lower East Syrah Columbia Valley Washington
Peppery herbs, underbrush, hints of olive tapenade and black fruits. It's a juicy, delicious, character filled Syrah to drink over the coming 3-5 years. Winery notes

2014 Gramercy Cellars Lower East Cabernet Columbia Valley Washington
Coming from the Columbia Valley, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Lower East from Gramercy is a polished, classy Cabernet Sauvignon that has lots of spice box, black currants and dried herbs in a supple, rounded, delicious and textured style. It's ideal for drinking over the coming 5-7 years. 91 points Robert Parker

2015 Roco Gravel Road Chardonnay Willamette Valley Oregon
This 2015 Chardonnay is a blend of Roco's three favorite Chardonnay vineyards in the Willamette Valley: Gran Moraine, Marsh Estate, and Knudsen Vineyards. The first two vineyards grow in low to mid elevation, in sandstone-shale derived soils that provide a lovely creamy texture. Knudsen Vineyard is located at a high elevation in volcanic derived soil that adds a racy minerality to this very unique Chardonnay. Winery Notes

    2016 Erath Pinot Gris Oregon
"Fragrant white flowers, nectarine, melons with a hint of Key lime lay the aromatic path to this tropical paradise. Pleasing plushness bolstered by engaging natural acidity combine to support lush flavors of banana, melon and apricot finishing on a long, clean and clear high note." Winery Notes

2013 Argyle Brut Rosé Willamette Valley Oregon
A lovely and delicate rosé, with expressive strawberry and watermelon notes accented by ginger and spice. Drink now. 91 points Wine Spectator
