Please join Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits for a complimentary tasting this Friday May 31st from 5:00-6:30pm.  We will be featuring two wines from Mt Peak Winery, one of California’s ‘ghost wineries’.

Built in 1886, Mount Peak was a marvel of innovation. The three-story, gravity-flow winery was built from the rocks pulled from the dry-farmed Monte Rosso Vineyard. Like many of California's pioneering wineries, Mount Peak was abandoned to the elements, a true ghost winery never to reopen.
Over 130 years later only the ruins of the winery remain, yet the vineyard's still-thriving vines have persisted.  The ghost winery and the world-class Monte Rosso Vineyard are perched at nearly 1,300 feet along the spine of the Mayacamas Mountains, just straddling Napa and Sonoma valleys.

2015 Mt Peak Gravity Red Blend  $42.95
Mainly Petite Sirah blended with Sangiovese, the 2015 Proprietary Red Blend Gravity is deep garnet-purple colored with profound crushed black and red currants notes over chocolate box, beef drippings and scorched earth with touches of dried herbs and truffles. Medium to full-bodied, it's very firm and chewy with lovely lift and a long, earthy finish.
    91 points Robert Parker

2015 Mt Peak Sentinel Cabernet  $57.95
The Sentinel Cabernet Sauvignon is named for the shield-shaped block that casts a watchful eye on the entrance to Monte Rosso Vineyard. It’s a beautiful deep crimson color and a muscular, mouth filling wine with full tannins and intense, concentrated fruit. Savory aromas mix with lavender and dark fruit, leading to a rich mouthfeel with waves of dark cherry, blackberry and a touch of spice. The extend finish melds the fruit together with hints of nutty toasted oak, pecan praline and caramel. The full, balanced structure gives this Cabernet tremendous aging potential. Winemaker notes
