Please join Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits September 12th from 6-7:30 for a seated tasting featuring the wines from Chehalem Winery.

Chehalem boasts a rich history of innovation, sustainability, and exceptional quality. Known for its single-vineyard Pinot Noirs and a progressive approach to white wines, Chehalem firmly believes that outstanding wine should accompany every course of a meal.
First established in 1980, they pioneered grape growing in the prestigious soils of the Ribbon Ridge AVA.  Today the winery has three unique estate vineyards planted in three distinct designated winegrowing regions of the Willamette Valley . Chehalem’s sites and winemaking style reveal wines that emphasize balance, elegance and texture. Mature vineyards, mature winemaking, consistently great wines.

The wines will be paired with a special selection of cheeses from the Bern's Cave du Fromage.

    2015 Chehalem Ian’s Reserve Chardonnay
This Ian’s Chardonnay is round and silky on the palate, interplaying light caramel, lemon meringue pie, yellow Starburst and peaches and cream. It shows great acidity with medium weight and a little spicy heat, akin to ginger or white pepper. The aromatics of star fruit, saffron and white blossom fill your glass. It finishes with a firm mid-palate, a bit of barrel and the sense that this wine is extremely youthful and able to last a very long time.  92 points Vinous

    2016 Chehalem Three Vineyards Riesling
This is quintessential Oregon Riesling, with brightness, white flowers like jasmine and white peach and Queen Anne cherry fruits.  The accents of candied ginger, slate and lemongrass make you hunt for nuance.  Well-balanced, it shows dry, despite carrying a little sugar, and develops a vibrant tension with bright acid and a peach pit tang.   Winery notes

2015 Chehalem Three Vineyards Pinot Noir
This special blend shows the full capacity of the vintage from a perspective of all three of our Estate vineyards which include different elevations, soil types and clones. Impeccable, not only in balance and texture, but length, oak exposure, fruit and complexity. Look for accents of chocolate, violets, five-spice and dark juicy cherries. Moderately-deep in intensity of structure and tannin, but produced with restraint for perfect acid structure and elegance.  90 points Vinous

2014 Chehalem Ridgecrest Pinot Noir -30th Harvest Anniversary
The oldest vines on Ribbon Ridge show elegance and balance from this powerful vintage, emphasizing complex and beautiful elements such as red and black fruit aromas, mineral, black cherry, earth, baking spices, cassis, bramble, cola, leather, and tobacco. Balance and structure emphasize light, fine tannin, bright acidity, excellent balance, nice length. Winery notes

2014 Chehalem Reserve Pinot Noir -30th Harvest Anniversary
Wine quality is excellent, based on full ripeness, probably the cleanest fruit we’ve seen in decades, and restrained extraction in fermentation to compensate for the warmest growing season on record. Despite the warmth of over 2800 degree days, good crop load balance and harvest timing gave us reasonable alcohols, averaging just under 14%. Whites are lush and gorgeously fruited.  Pinot noir colors are appropriately rich but not deep, wines not tannic or over-extracted.  Winery notes
