Please join Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits for a Crush Hour featuring the latest vintage from Burgundy, 2016.

The French Wine region of Burgundy may be small in size but its influence is huge in the world of vino. The complexity of Burgundy can cast fear into the heart of even a seasoned wine pro, but fear not – the region need only be as complicated as you want it to be.

Five cheeses from the Bern’s Cave du Fromage will be paired with the wines, along with house made breads. The price is $25.00 per person. Reservations are requested and seats are limited, book your seat by hitting the link.

    Featured Wines

2016 Alain Chavy Bourgogne Blanc $24.95
Wines from Puligny-Montrachet are typified by aromas and flavors of green apple and lemon and tend to be tauter and firmer on the palate compared to wines from neighboring villages. Aging in a small percentage of new French oak barrels lends accents of toast and vanilla.

2016 Xavier Monnot Meursault Chevalieres $74.95
Wines from Meursault are typified by aromas and flavors of ripe melon, hazelnut, and lemon custard, and tend to be broader and more textural than wines from neighboring villages. Aging in 15-20% percent small French oak barrels lends notes of toast and vanilla.

2016 Blain Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet $64.95
The white wines of Chassagne-Montrachet can resemble those of its neighbor, Puligny. Both are tense with acidity although Chassagne can sometimes be a little softer and broader. Both show crisp apple and citrus flavors, but some Chassagnes surprise with an unexpected red fruit note.

2016 Alain Chavy Puligny Montrachet $72.95
Alain Chavy’s Puligny-Montrachet comes from several parcels around Puligny from vines planted between 1965 and 1974. Parcels near Meursault have heavier soils, bringing body and power, while the gravel-limestone soils around Chassagne contribute elegance and minerality.

2016 Tollot Beaut Bourgogne Rouge $39.95
The wine shows a delicate profile on the nose with aromas of red flowers, cherries, and sweet herbs. The palate shows the rusticity of the appellation but with unexpected richness and texture. Aging in 25% new oak barrels brings warm notes of vanilla and spice.

    2016 Blain Gagnard Pommard $55.95
Pommard is a wine of fullness and sturdiness, especially when compared to the finessed and perfumed wines found in the neighboring village of Volnay. This Pommard shows the density typical of old vines but with pretty aromatics of flowers and herbs thanks to the vineyards' proximity to Volnay.

2016 Pierre Gelin Fixin Rouge $41.95
Wines from Fixin are typified by their robust, tannic, and sometimes “sauvage” character. Soils towards the bottom of the hill tend to be a deeper and heavier mixture of limestone mixed with clay where wines tend to be beefy and a bit rougher. The premier crus sit further up the hill on homogenous brown limestone and often display more minerality and finesse.
