Please join Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits on Friday November 22nd from 6:30-8:00pm for a Crush Hour in celebration of Beaujolais Day!

For a long time now Beaujolais’ reputation has been somewhat focused on the fun, fruity Beaujolais Nouveau, stealing the limelight from the region’s best quality wines, the Cru’s.  100% Gamay based, these wines can give its world-famous neighbor (Burgundy) a run for its money.  If you have never tried one before please come and Celebrate with us.  We will have 9 out of 10 Cru’s available for your sipping pleasure and since it’s a celebration there will be bubbles.  Have we mentioned yet that these wines are perfect for any Thanksgiving Day feast?!

Five cheese from Haven will be paired with the wines, along with house made breads.  The price is 30.00 per person.  Reservations are requested, please book your ticket by clicking the link.

    AF Gros Moulin-à-Vent en Mortperay 2017 $22.95

AF Gros is one of several elite Cotes de Nuits growers who are helping to create a groundswell of love around Beaujolais! Gamay is a grape with a gentle tannin, bright acidity and red berry floral bouquet - and this version is treated with all due respect: no carbonic maceration; instead made like traditional red burgundy and aged in large oak founders for one year. Moulin a Vent is the Beaujolais Cru that is the most Pinot of all - it’s an exceptional terroir with great personality: elegant fruit, finesse, structure, and depth. -Winemaker Notes

Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py 2017 $18.95

Explosively fragrant, aromatic nose with very impressive aromas of spiced cassis and red cherries, as well as raspberries. The palate has a very plush, juicy and powerful, focused finish. So balanced and long. Drink or hold. -96 points James Suckling

    Boisen-Barbet Chateau Fleurie 'Fleurie' 2017 $24.95

This wine is rounded out by six months' aging in cask. Ideal with roasts, lamb and white meat dishes, it can age up to ten to fifteen years in good vintages. -Winemaker notes

Domaine Christophe Savoye Chiroubles Cuvee Loïc 2017 $26.95

This is an elegant wine, with acidity and red fruits already in harmony. An edge of tannins gives the wine structure and aging potential. -Winemaker notes

Jean Loron Domaine des Billards Saint Amour 2017 $24.95

The 2017 Billards is a classic in the making, offering up a beautifully pure and still quite primary bouquet of red and black cherries, game bird, woodsmoke, a hint of raw cocoa, a complex base of soil tones and a discreet floral top-note redolent of a peonies. -Winemaker notes

Domaine de la Croix Barraud Chenas Vieilles Vigne 2016 $24.95

One year in older wood barrels has given an extra dimension to the ripe berry fruits of this wine. It adds richness and a smooth texture that lifts the fruitiness and acidity, providing further aging potential. -91 points Wine Enthusiast

    Jean-Marc Domaine Laforest Brouilly 2018 $22.95

Our Brouilly vineyards are on poor sandy soils made up of decomposed granite; the result is a nuanced and generous wine.  Clothed in a deep ruby robe, Brouilly gives of red fruit aromas. It combines roundness and harmony. Well-balanced and enhanced with a winey body, it boasts remarkable length. -Winemaker notes

    Jean-Marc Domaine Laforest Régnié 2018 $17.95

Our Régnié vineyards are on the slopes of Durette, where the granitic soil is well exposed to the rising sun.  Régnié is a supple wine in a cherry red robe with purple tints and red currant aromas and flavours. -Winemaker notes

Domaine Lafarge Vial Cote de Brouilly 2017 $49.95

Brawnier and more rustic than the Fleurie cuvées, the 2017 Côte de Brouilly exhibits aromas of dark chocolate, cassis and plums. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, with a fleshy core of fruit. -92 points Wine Advocate

Serol Turbullent Natural Sparkling Rosé NV $19.95

Vivid pink colour.  Ripe grape, pear and raspberry aromas.  In mouth, the aromatic expression of Gamay is emphazised by the bubbles finesse.  Rounded attack well-balanced by a lively finish. -Winemaker notes
