  • Product Description

Please join Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits on Friday July 13th, from 6:30-8:30p.m for a Bastille Day Crush Hour.

Now that the 4th of July has come and gone, there’s another patriotically minded red-white-and-blue holiday on the horizon. Bastille Day celebrates the storming of the Bastille, a political prison that represented royal authority. It was a turning point in the French Revolution that eventually led to the end of the monarchy.  It is a day of celebration, so if you too are a Francophile at heart, stop by and taste some outstanding French wines.

Five cheeses from the Bern’s Cave du Fromage will be paired with the wines, along with housemade breads. The price is $25.00 per person. Reservations are requested and can ONLY be made by calling Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits at (813) 250-9463 within business hours.

NOTE: We would like to accommodate everyone, but without a reservation admission is not guaranteed.

    Featured Wines

    Larmandier Bernier, Lattitude - $46.95
“It is composed exclusively of Chardonnays originating from the same “latitude”: the south of Vertus. This is a generous terroir: the cuvée Latitude is the perfect festive Champagne, which still retains the characteristic pureness of our Estate’s Champagnes. Winery Notes
"...this delivers a very charming style with aromas of ripe peach and melon. The palate adds grilled nuts and citrus in a soft, smooth and creamy mode. Good concentration..."

2017 Domaine La Barbotaine, Sancerre Blanc - $29.95
“This dry and fruity white wine is of a beautiful light yellow color with brilliant reflections. It is full of finesse and complexity with delicate mineral touches. On the nose, we find freshness and fruity aromas of citrus. On the palate, vivacity, pledge of freshness, followed by an elegant roundness at the end of the mouth with persistent aromatic notes of citrus. Our white Sancerre is best eaten at a temperature of 10 - 12 ° C; to consume now and preferably within 5 years after bottling.”
    Winery Notes

2016 Domaine des Heritiers du Comte Lafon, Macon Milly-Lamartine - $28.95
"Founded in 1999 by Dominique Lafon, Héritiers du Comte Lafon is his trailblazing, biodynamic Mâconnais domaine. These world class Chardonnay display what this magical region is capable of producing. Mineral-driven with racy laser focused acidity. Ripe stone fruits and lemon zest with an ever so delightful hint of smoke."
    Winery Notes

    2016 Chene Blue, Rosé - $35.95
"Blessed with a confluence of natural factors, Chêne Bleu has the benefit of an exceptional location, multifaceted geology, and a southern Rhône climate with soils more typical of the northern Rhône.”
    Winery Notes
"Limpid orange. Mineral-accented red currant, raspberry and blood orange aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a suave candied lavender nuance as the wine opens up. Concentrated yet lithe on the palate, offering intense red berry and bitter orange pith flavors that pick up a spicy quality on the back half. Shows excellent focus and mineral cut on the persistent finish, which leaves a palate-numbing suggestion of white pepper behind."
    Josh Raynolds

    2015 MOMMESSIN, Saint-Amour - $22.95
“We all recognise that this most Northern Cru bears a name which is gentle to the ear and to the heart. It is the wine of poets and lovers. If it did not exist, life would be a little less charming. The village of Saint Amour gives its name to this wine. Before that, a long time ago during Gallo-Roman times, a centurion named Amor belonging to the Thébaine Legion, stationed in the Valais region of Switzerland and famous for his Christian faith suffered martyrdom. In all evidence, the ways of lovers, with their pleasures and sorrows, are rarely easy. Today the wine of Saint Amour shows two faces, according to the soil composition and indeed the vinification technique.”
    Winery Notes

    2015 MOMMESSIN, MORGON - CÔTE DU PY - $23.95
"From the 10th Century onwards, we find traces of vineyards in Morgon. An act dated 956 A.D.shows the sale of a vineyard by the Sire de Beaujeu to a local vassal. Morgon is one of the 10 crus of the Beaujolais. The vineyard is situated on hills west of the Saône river, in the heart of the crus in the northern part of the region. (50 Km north of Lyon, 25 km north of Villefranche and 25 km south of Mâcon) and stretches over 1,100 hectares."
