Please join Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits on Friday August 17th for a Crush Hour featuring wines around the world. Every once in a while we here at Bern’s just can’t pick one region to focus on.  There is so much delicious wine around the world, why not do it all in one night.

Five cheeses from the Bern’s Cave du Fromage will be paired with the wines, along with house made breads. The price is $25.00 per person. Reservations are requested and can be made by purchasing through the link in this email. No refunds 24 hours prior to start of event.

    2017 Scarpetta Prosecco DOC -$14.95
Scarpetta is a Friulian inspired brand created by Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey and former French Laundry Chef Lachlan Patterson.  Aromas of juicy melon, white flowers and hazelnut. On the palate, the wine is fresh and clean with flavors of honeysuckle and green apple. Winery notes

2015 Clemens Busch Riesling, Vom Roten Schiefer -$32.95
Crisp, dry, elegant and aromatic, floral, mineral.  Winery notes

Rhys Vineyards, Anderson Valley Chardonnay -$48.95
Apricot, lemon confit, white flowers, along with a distinct tropical note, give the wine considerable near and medium-term immediacy. Hints of baked apple, brioche, chamomile and wild flowers develop later. There is lovely brightness to play off some of the riper elements. 90 points, Galloni.

2016 Poe ‘Ultraviolet’ Cabernet Sauvignon -$17.95
Ripe notes of blueberry compote, plums, fresh violet petals and currant, a round mouthfeel with hints of blackberry bramble, black pepper and Bordeaux-like earthiness, with bright acidity and velvety, persistent tannin.
    Winery notes.

2016 Alvaro Palacios, Camins del Priorat -$21.95
For this entry-point to the red wines of Priorat, Alvaro Palacios relies on garnacha and cariñena (70 percent of the blend), adding cabernet and syrah as well. The result is a delicious and fresh juice, so lively and crisp that it makes you want to ice down the bottle and pour it with charcuterie. 91 points Wine & Spirits

2015 Revana Family Vineyards, Valle de Uco Malbec Carazon del Sol -$22.95
This has heady aromatics of black pepper, violets, black tea, Milk chocolate and sagebrush. There are ripe flavors of black tea, black cherry, roasted figs, mint and mocha. This is rich and delicious forward style Malbec with a silky mouthfeel. Winery notes

2015 Domaine Luis Chave, Saint Joseph Offerus -$32.95
The vineyards used for Offerus are located in two distinct St. Joseph areas. The communities of Mauves, Tournon, and St. Jean de Muzols yield over 80% of the blend and are owned by Jean Louis. These southern vineyard sites express tightly wound tannins, spice, and power. They add structure and depth to complete the harmony of Offerus. The remaining vineyards are located in more northerly communities around Serrières, and even these are farmed mainly by Jean-Louis, though he doesn’t own the vineyards. This soil produces wines which are more elegant with incredible purity, definition, and focus.
