    Winemaker Notes
Drawn from three top Napa vineyards; Kene ck Ranch, Salvador and Rancho Chimiles, our Cabernet Sauvignon is handpicked and undergoes a triple sorting upon arrival at the winery.  e grapes then undergo an extended maceration and a long, cool fermentation for increased  avor, color and aroma. Aged in 50% new French oak barrels, the wine matures for 22 months before being deemed ready for release. Our Napa Cabernet bottling is always blended with other Bordeaux varietals for their added aromatic and balanced tannin contributions.

    Vintage
The Napa Valley Vintners Association described the 2013 growing season as “early, even and excellent” with the vintage showing tremendous promise and potential.  e warm, dry spring brought early bud break and ideal conditions for  owering and fruit set. Temperatures were consistent throughout the summer with the exception of one heat spike in late June / early July. Billed as the earliest harvest in recent history, we began picking Chardonnay on September 1st, grapes came in at a furious pace throughout the month. Overall, harvest  nished about two weeks earlier than normal and yields on the whole were above average.

    Tasting Notes
A quintessential Napa Cabernet, this wine is rich and dark in the glass. Aromas of blackberry and faint dried herb wa  up from the rim towards you. Upon tasting, the wine has a broad and pleasant entry, moving to a focused and weighty mid palate with notes of cassis, toast and graphite. A lengthy  nish shows well proportioned tannin that will gain even more complexity as time passes. With proper cellaring, this wine will drink beautifully for the next 15 years.
Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot

    91: Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Merlot. This excellent Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 22 months in 50% new French oak and 50% used oak, is a real sleeper selection from Merryvale with an attractive price as well. Dense ruby/purple with sweet crème de cassis notes intermixed with black cherry and toast in a medium to full-bodied, supple, velvety seductive style. This is a beauty and should drink well for at least 10-15 years. Don't miss it.

    91: Decanter
This wine is showing minty Cabernet characters on the nose, with smoky blackberry notes and a hint of bacon from the oak, but it is not overdone. Tart cassis spears the sumptuous palate which is lifted by acidity.

    90: James Suckling
Aromas of coffee and blackberry character. Full body, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Tannic and rich, yet this shows potential. Needs to soften. Better in 2018.
