Please join Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits on Wednesday, August 29th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm for a five course wine dinner featuring the wines from one of the greatest regions in the world, Piedmont Italy.
A prestigious and distinctive region for red wines in northwestern Italy, Piedmont is responsible for some of the country’s longest-lived and most sought-after wines. The most prized variety is Nebbiolo named for the region’s omnipresent fog (“nebbia” in Italian). This grape is responsible for the exalted wines of Barolo known for their ageability, firm tannins and hallmark aromas of tar and roses. Nebbiolo wines, despite their pale hue, pack a pleasing punch of flavor and structure, and the best examples can require about a decade’s wait before they become approachable. Please join us as we dive deep into this world famous wine region.
In addition to this dinner we will have 3 wines that you will be able to taste at the end of dinner on a pre-order basis.
The price is $150.00 per person
2017 Cascina Bongiovanni Langhe, Arneis DOC- $19.95
Light straw yellow in color; delicate fruit aromas of pear and white peach evolve into complex floral notes with hints of aniseed, confirmed on the palate. winery notes
2013 Conterno Fantino Ginestrino Langhe, Nebbiolo DOC- $35.95
Very lively ruby color with garnet reflections; persistent and appealing bouquet with notes of briar rose and peach pit; on the palate, roundness is balanced by characteristic tannins and structure. winery notes
2013 Marchesi di Barolo Tradizione, Barolo DOCG- $43.95
The 2013 Barolo Tradizione opens to medium color intensity and a ruby-garnet color. This is a classically-styled Barolo from a classic vintage that showed a long growing season for slow and steady ripening of fruit (that Nebbiolo loves). This is a tonic and firm wine with a good amount of inner tension and energy within. 91 points Robert Parker
2014 Luigi Einaudi Barolo ‘Cannubi’, DOCG- $87.95
Superb, a perfect expression of the characteristic elegance of the terroir: balanced yet pronounced tannins that denote great structure and longevity.
2017 Gaudio Malvasia di Casorzo Novo DOC- $25.95
100% Malvasia di Casorzo. Light ruby red with cherry reflections. The nose is aromatic, floral, and reminiscent of fresh rose petals. Fizzy and fragrant, with fruit flavors that sweetness cleanses rather than cloys on the palate. A crystal-clear finish. winery notes
Damilano Barolo Chinato DOCG- $62.95
2013 Luigi Einaudi Barolo Costa Grimaldi DOCG- $85.95
2014 Conterno Fantino Barolo Sori Ginestra DOCG- $104.95
