Wine Advocate A top-notch effort from this Pomerol estate, the 2005 Domaine de l’Eglise displays a dark ruby/purple color along with big, sweet aromas of melted licorice, chocolate, mocha, cherries, and plums. Deep, plush, and heady with attractive opulence, purity, and ripe tannin buttressed by decent acidity, it should hit its peak in 3-4 years, and keep for 15 or more. Score range: 90-92. Score: 92. —Robert Parker, April 2007.
Wine Spectator Offers fresh mushroom and crushed berry, with coffee and toasty oak on the nose. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a vanilla, berry and cappuccino finish. A bit hard now. Needs time to mellow. Best after 2012. Score: 91. —James Suckling, March 31, 2008.
