Marcarini Barolo La Serra 2001
The wine has a garnet-color and ruby-red reflections with a slight orange note. The nose is ethereal, fresh, elegant and very persistent, with hints of violet, rose, liquorice and sweet spices. In the mouth the flavor is long and intense. Wine Enthusiast This full-bodied, tannic Barolo is firmly astringent on the finish, but there’s enough fruit behind the tannins to emerge with proper aging. The complex aromas and flavors showcase cherries and plums, but also darker, earthier notes of tobacco, humus and spice. Try after 2010. Imported by Empson (USA) Ltd. Score: 92. —Joe Czerwinski, March 01, 2006.Wine Spectator Very perfumed on the nose with flowers, berries and plums. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, silky finish. A reserved wine.
