Mouthfeel: Soft and inviting, round, viscous, great weight, nice balance of acid and sugar.

King Estate's 2008 Signature is slightly richer than past vintages, with a peachlike scent that gives way to weighty pear and white peach flavors. It has a satisfying fullness and the palate weight for pork loin.

If America has a signature Pinot Gris, this is it—widely available, crisply varietal, and now named “Signature Collection.” Fleshy pear and stone fruits form the central core; with some suggestions of tannin and light herb finishing up, along with a bit of vanilla wafer.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
