Amavi Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Red   BN#206511

The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon delivers sophisticated aromas of ripe dark fruit, mixed berries, earth and a faint hint of rose petal and coconut shell. Full-bodied flavors of blackberries and cassis lead to nuances of chocolate, mocha and spice. This softly textured wine is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Sauvignon is the backbone of the blend, adding structure and body, while the Merlot adds flavor and depth. The touch of Cabernet Franc adds a nice floral characteristic. Complex and well structured, this wine is amazingly soft and appealing from start to finish.

Wine Spectator Aims for a deft balance and achieves a lithe texture, with appealing currant and blueberry fruit, shaded with cedar and nutmeg. Not a big wine, but expressive, lingering effortlessly against refined tannins. Best from 2008 through 2013. 3,863 cases made. Score: 90. —Harvey Steiman, June 15, 2007.

Wine Enthusiast A substantial wine, well-balanced and showing a good mix of dark, acid-driven fruits, smoke and graphite. There are some light hints of mushroom and leaf, a good display of clear varietal character. Beautiful balance and structure. It’s not a big wine but quite approachable. Score: 89. —Paul Gregutt, May 01, 2007.
