Le Fete du Bordeaux
Several great Bordeaux châteaux have joined forces to travel to America and present their current release to wine lovers. These dinners around the country are the occasion to sample the 2015 vintage as it is about to be shipped across the Atlantic. It is also the occasion to enjoy some of the finest vintages produced in recent years from these renowned estates. On the left bank, from Saint Julien with Châteaux Léoville and Langoa Barton as well as Mauvesin-Barton, to Pauillac with Château Lynch Bages and Château Ormes de Pez in St Estephe, then travelling to the right bank with Pomerol’s Château La Conseillante, you will taste through some of the finest “terroir” of Bordeaux. This will be the inaugural dinner of its kind in Tampa. Please join us on Thursday January 18th, at 6:00pm for reception on the pool deck followed by dinner inside the ballroom at the Epicurean Hotel.

Jean-Charles Cazes
Born in Bordeaux in 1974, Jean-Charles Cazes manages all the family vineyards, both in France and abroad.
A graduate in economics and finance and holder of the DUAD (tasting diploma), he set out on his career in Brazil, as a financial controller. A wine enthusiast, in 2001 he became the sales manager for JM. CAZES Sélection in Scandinavia, the UK and in the USA.
In 2006, he naturally took over from his father Jean-Michel Cazes. At his instigation, the Domaine des Sénéchaux at Châteauneuf-du-Pape was acquired that same year. On a permanent quest for quality and excellence, he was awarded the Prix de l’Innovation in 2013 by the Revue des Vins de France for the VINIV concept
From his Médoc peninsula, he can satisfy a pleasure other than his love of wine: surfing. Each year he turns up without fail for the mascaret, that famous tidal bore on the River Gironde that is surfed upstream while the sun is still in the vineyards.
Lilian Barton-Sartorius
After carrying out her studies in England, Lilian began her career working in a bank in Bordeaux before moving to Hong-Kong for 2 years to work for the shipping company ''Les Chargeurs Réunis''. In 1978, at the age of 22, Lilian joined her father at his merchant company and obtained the DUAD wine tasting diploma at the University of Bordeaux.
For over 30 years Lilian and her father Anthony have divided their responsibilities between the Saint Julien vineyards and the merchant business. Lilian Barton Sartorius has now taken over from her father in running the wine properties and the other family companies. She has since been joined by her two children, Mélanie and Damien, who represents the 10th Barton generation in Bordeaux.

I rate wines using the 100-points scale. I have used this point system for close to 25 years. I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
