Summer begins next Wednesday and just in time for the upcoming dog days is a brand new wine from King Estate that is so refreshing, so unique and so delicious that you will want to stock your cellar. Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits is thrilled to offer the 2011 King Estate ‘Luminous’ Pinot Gris Rosé – a delicious, bone dry rosé that exhibits flavors of orange rind, pomegranate and floral notes backed by bracing acidity and minerality.
This rosé is made in a unique manner and from a white grape. Traditional rosés are made from red grapes and the wine is promptly removed from the skins to limit extraction of color and tannin. Pinot Gris is a grayish-purple grape that can impart red color into wine when kept in contact with the skins. However, ‘Luminous’ Pinot Gris is a special case; it was deliberately made using substantial contact with the coppery-grey Pinot Gris skins (72 hours), providing its unique structure, complexity, and color. A grape traditionally used to make a white wine has become something else. Try it today!
The suggested retail price is $21.00 per bottle. Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits is thrilled to offer this uniquely delicious wine for $19.95 per bottle (or $17.95 by-the-case). For orders, please call Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits at (813) 250-9463 or click the “BUY” button. Supplies are limited.

The Passing of a Legend:
On a sad note, Edward King Jr. passed away on Sunday, June 3rd
. He was 90 years old. King worked as an engineer for several companies before founding King Radio, an avionics company, in 1959. In 1985, Ed King, Jr. sold King Radio to Allied Signal/Bendix Aerospace and founded King Estate Winery with his son Edward King III in 1991. Over the last 20 years King Estate has been synonymous with world-class Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris production and instrumental in helping Oregon wine reach new heights. Please toast a glass to this passing legend.
